CREW. This deals with the all aspects of crewing aboard the managed ships. The most used function in the crew module is that if finding replacement crew for those going off duty. This is a complex five stage process – proposal, approval, assignment, release and crew change. This last stage is the one which places the replacement seafarer onto the crew of the vessel. Data entry is involved at each stage, and much data processing is involved.
BUDGET. This deals with the creation of yearly budgets for the managed ships. The Budget module is used to create yearly budgets for vessels managed by V.Ships. The module displays a hierarchy in its main pane, where users can drill down from V.Ships sites, through clients to each vessel. The module has a hierarchical chart of accounts, which is user configurable. Individual accounts belong to one of a number of different types, and each type has its own forms for entering data. Some account types have means of automatically calculating costs from precursor data. Wage data is handled in a different manner, taking inputs from wage agreements. Other functions in this module include a reporting facility, and maintenance functions for the various lookup tables involved.
PURCHASING. Purchasing is a window based standalone application that handles all the activities related to purchasing for various vessels and the handling of the related workflows by various Vships offices worldwide.
